You Think it Already Exists, But it Doesn't: Introducing the First Chris King Seatpost Collar - Bikerumor

I don’t know about you guys, but Chis King’s newly released Seatpost Collar came as a surprise to me. I seriously thought that Chris King Precision Components already offered a seat collar. But, we all must have imagined it since this is their first. The new seat collar is a welcome addition that would sit pretty well between your Chis King Headset, Hubs, and Bottom Bracket.

The new Seatpost Collar looks to take a design nod from the iconic Chris King headset cups. As you’d expect, these new collars are precision-machined from aluminum. They are finished with the Chris King wood mark.

And, if you look closely, there is a lil’ “Chris King Buzz Bee” etched right there on the barrel nut.

The barrel nut allows for the collar to keep optimal thread alignment while tightening the collar down. It also allows for even clamping force.

I received my Chris King Seatpost Collar in Matte Turquoise in the 34.9 size. And It’s as beautiful as you’d expect any product from Chris King to be. It weighed in at a respectable 32 grams with stainless steel hardware. Not the lightest, but it’s also pleasantly robust in its construction. So, there is a give and take here.

It has a pronounced lip that keeps it sitting pretty on the top of your seat tube, like most seat collars. Mine looks great on the Masi Incanto Ti, where I have a matching Chris King headset installed.

Go get one. I think the Chis King Seatpost Collar is not only something most of us thought already existed but, something you should probably own. It’s a high-quality, reasonably priced, USA-made product that will last the life of your bicycle and likely longer. It doesn’t get more simple and elegant.
